Equipment
Each camper should bring his own stick, helmet, shoulder and elbow pads, gloves, shoes for grass and indoor surfaces, mouthpiece and athletic supporter. Some equipment will be available to borrow for the day. Borrowed equipment will be returned at the end of each camp day. First come, first serve on borrowed equipment.

White Plains Lacrosse Summer Camp

For Boys and Girls ages 5- 14

Three one-week sessions, 9am - 3pm, Monday-Friday. Also offering Morning only option (9am-11:45pm).

This year Week 1 is split, June 27(Thursday) - July 3 (Wed)

NO CAMP - JULY 4 and 5 (CAMP CLOSED)

Camp will be held on the Highlands Campus of the White Plains Middle School

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Daily Schedule

9:00-9:15am -Welcome/Attendance/Overview of the day’s activities
9:15-9:30am - Stretch and Warm-up
9:30-10:00am - Stick Skills
10:00-10:30am - Drills specific to your position (Defense, Midfield, Attack, Goalie)
10:30-10:45am - Water / Snack
10:45-11:15am - Teaching / Instruction – Team Concepts (Offense, Defense, Rides, Clears, Man – up and down)
11:15-11:30pm - Lacrosse related activities (Relay races, ground ball contest, hardest shot contest, etc.)
11:30-12:30pm - Lunch
12:30-12:45pm - Stretch and Warm-up
12:45-1pm - Transition Game (1on 2, 2 on 3, 3 on 4, 4 on 5, 5 on 6)
1-1:15pm - Team Practice
1:15 -1:50pm - Team Games
1 :50-2:00pm - Wrap-up and Pick-up

Camp Philosophy

White Plains Summer Lacrosse Camp will provide each camper with the finest instruction through a low 8 to 1 camper to counselor ratio.
Our goal is to provide each camper the opportunity to improve their lacrosse skills and knowledge of the game. This will be done through individual periods and small group instruction, team practice and play.
The camp will be designed for players of all abilities from the advanced to the beginner.

Camp Director (Bio)

Mark Armogida has coached lacrosse at W.P.H.S. for the past 36 years, the first 13 years as the junior varsity coach and the last 23 years as the head varsity coach. Mark Armogida was awarded “Coach of the Year” honors after his first year as the varsity head coach at W.P.H.S. in 2002 and again in 2005. Armogida is a graduate of W.P.H.S., class of 1985, and has taught physical education in the White Plains School District for the past 29 years. Mark Armogida has also coached football at W.P.H.S. for the past 36 years, spending the past 17 seasons as a varsity assistant coach.

Assistant Camp Director (Bio)

Howard Rubenstein brings 47 years of lacrosse playing and coaching experience to the White Plains Lacrosse Camp. He has been the assistant varsity lacrosse coach at W.P.H.S. for the last 23 seasons. Prior to coming to White Plains, he was the head varsity lacrosse coach at Clarkstown North High School for 10 seasons. Howard Rubenstein was also the assistant coach at Princeton High School in New Jersey (2 years) and Sweet Home High School in Buffalo (3 years). Prior to his coaching career, Howard played 4 years of varsity lacrosse at Sweet Home High School where he was named team MVP, First Team All Western New York, All-American runner-up, and captain of the All-star team. He went on to play lacrosse and ice hockey at SUNY Cortland. Coach Rubenstein recently retired from teaching physical education at Mamaroneck Avenue School in White Plains. He also has been the varsity ice hockey coach at WPHS for the past 25 years.
